Glossary Of Terms

ADJUDICATORS
These are the same as the Assessors, they give the impartial verdicts or assessments of each case according to the merits of each case.

ARBITRATION
This is where an independent verdict is given by an impartial arbitrator in order to settle a dispute. See Arbitration for further details.

ARBITRATOR
Someone, like an eCourt Assessor, who gives an impartial viewpoint to deliver in independent fair minded verdict to settle a dispute.

ASSESSMENTS
These are the eCourt final verdicts or assessments of a case.

ASSESSORS
These are the people at eCourt who act as the impartial adjudicators and give the final verdicts or assessments for each case.

CONCILIATION
Is just another way to describe any method of dispute resolution.

CASE NOTES
The copy written and submitted that describes the dispute.

CLIENTS
Anyone who uses eCourt in order to settle a dispute.

DISPUTE RESOLUTION
Often called Alternative Dispute Resolution, or ADR, which is any method of settling a dispute other than going through the normal court and legal systems.

ECOURT
An online justice system, or Dispute Resolution service that assesses disputes and offers independent impartial verdicts.

MEDIATION
This usually consists of a series of negotiations between disputing parties towards a settlement.  See Mediation for further details.

MEDIATORS
Someone, like an eCourt Assessor, who conducts a series of negotiations between clients in order to obtain a fair settlement.

SINGLE CLIENT APPLICATIONS
This is where only one of the two disputing parties submits Case Notes, in order to get an impartial, third party opinion, to try and encourage a settlement.

SUBMISSIONS
Used to describe the whole package that you submit to eCourt, including all your copy, pictures, forms, documents, and Case Notes.

THIRD PARTY REPRESENTATIVE
An impartial third party, usually a friend or relative, who agrees to act as an independent conduit in order to gain a more subjective overview of the situation.

VERDICTS
eCourts final judgement of a case.
